    What is function of these USELESS choices in application menu ?

    Hi. Please see following 2 screenshots from editor of application menu of Cinnamon:

    As you see, there are many unchecked boxes. I tried to check them. They appear in menu, but when I click on them no thing happened !

    I was interested in "PolicyKit Authentication Agent". When I check it, it appear in application menu, but no thing happened when I click on it !

    Then I tried "File". But same result: appeared in application menu, but when I click on it, no thing happened !

    What is function of these if nothing happened when checked ?!

    The reason for you not being able to use those items you wish to use - they are not installed. Remember - Cinnamon is a minimalist interface. I suspect that once you install those packages that you want to use - they will work.

    Also keep in mind - that where there is duplication in the menu, it means that feature has multiple choices available to you.

    I've played with Cinnamon in other distros - and that is what I've found. Definitely install those features that you want, try them out. If you don't like that feature then uninstall them. That's the beauty of GNU/Linux - you get to choose what satisfies you (not what the software company suspects you want).

    .
    The packages are installed but the desktop files have the NoDisplay=true directive as they aren't meant to be displayed.

    What did you expect?
    It's just a daemon service! and has no gui.
    The file is used to start polkit when cinnamon session starts.

    Code:
    $ cat polkit-cinnamon-authentication-agent-1.desktop
    [Desktop Entry]
    Name=PolicyKit Authentication Agent
    Comment=PolicyKit Authentication Agent
    Exec=/usr/libexec/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1
    Terminal=false
    Type=Application
    Categories=
    NoDisplay=true
    OnlyShowIn=X-Cinnamon;
    X-GNOME-AutoRestart=true

    Found the translation with google translate. Did a random selection of languages and a similar message popped out.
    My wife is to me a wife, and will give me advice as two people, my wife and as my sister. Terrible thing to leave out articles like the, and, a, ... Doing so confuses the meaning.
