[Solved] Fedora 27 64 bit on macbook 3,1: boot problem after installation

    Hi,
I have a problem with the installation of fedora 27 64 bit on a macbook 3,1 late 2007. I completely removed all mac os x partitions and I installed fedora as UEFI with one ESP partition, two ext4 partitions for operating system and home directory and one partition for swap.
After the installation, the grub appears and the keyboard does not work. Hence after the grub timeout the operating system gets stuck with blank screen.
I already tried to change linux kernel option on /etc/default/grub file by removing quiet splash options and by adding nomodeset, but nothing changed,
Then, If I enter in the mac boot menu by using the option keyboard of the mac, with inserted a live USB of fedora 27 64 bit, I have the following four options:
    Code:
    Windows
    fedora media
    EFI Boot
    EFI Boot
If I select fedora media, the grub appears, the keyboard works, I can boot to fedora and it works perfectly.
I do not know how to avoid to use the fedora USB live and I'm quite sure that is something related to how the grub is launched.
    Do you have any suggestion?
    Thank you

    P.S.
I have the exact problem also with lubuntu and I cannot solve it.

    Hi,
I solved in very simple way that I forgot to try. I just reset the NVRAM of the Mac and I reinstalled the operating system.

    Hi erotavlas,

It's worth bearing in mind that your firmware updates are delivered via the software update feature in MacOS, for this reason I always leave a bit of HDD space available to dual boot MacOS.

    Regards,

    Haydn.

    Hi,
thank you for your information. I have serious doubts about the firmware update since the macbook 3,1 does not receive any update since 25 July 2011 i.e. 10.6.8 version.
