    Question Upgrade Fedora 26 > 27 Beta?

There are advice and talk about experiences in http://https://fedoramagazine.org/up...edora-27-beta/

I found myself interested in trying that. Although I'm 83 and have some problems to understand this process

    I tried to start it:
    Code:
    root@huvila ukki]# dnf --refresh upgrade
    Viimeinen metatiedon vanhenemistarkistus : 0:00:00 sitten, ajankohta su 29. lokakuuta 2017 09.21.03.
    Riipuvuudet selvitetty.
    Ei mitään tehtävää.
    Valmis!
    [root@huvila ukki]# gsettings set org.gnome.software show-upgrade-prerelease true

(process:3413): dconf-WARNING **: failed to commit changes to dconf: Yhteys on suljettu
    [root@huvila ukki]#
BUT dconf-WARNING **: failed to commit changes to dconf: Because the connection is closed. Now I'm adviced to:
    pkill gnome-software etc.

Do I dare to do that? I have another computer with Kubuntu so I can live without Fedora but I hope to have this Gnome desktop too

You must run `gsettings` as a regular user.

Small tip, you can precede commands with `LC_ALL=C` so that output is in English when posting to forum. For example:

    Code:
    $ LC_ALL=C date
    Sun Oct 29 15:30:58 CET 2017

    Re: Upgrade Fedora 26 > 27 Beta?

Trying to do the update I run gsettings set org.gnome.software show-upgrade-prerelease true
    But the result was:
    Code:
dconf-WARNING **: failed to commit changes to dconf: Because the connection is closed.
And this situation seems to continue.

    And I was adviced to:
    Code:
    pkill gnome-software
As much as I understand, that will stop my Gnome desktop working, or what

Running `gsettings` does propably start gnome again.

Shall I run Fedora26 without the graphical Gnome desktop and try to do the upgrade to 27 Beta then startx or something like that.

Sorry to bother you, take your time. Well, I can continue running Fedora 26 and its handsome Gnome desktop

    Re: Upgrade Fedora 26 > 27 Beta?

Over time I have collected around 150 wallpapers. I wrote a script file that creates a xml for the gnome shell.
My script cycles through the wallpapers showing one wallpaper per day. (150 days to complete the loop).
Thereafter I set it up to cycle through my list one more time.

Script to make xml file available on request. Wallpapers total bytes = 529195090 or roughly 505 megs

The upgrade using gnome software failed for me as well. Try dnf --system upgrade method, it works better

the best thing about DNF is the painless upgrade process as compared to yum. Previously users were asked to use fedup and after being fedup from it i used to use yum and it used to cause troubles. Now a days it is so easy and painless.

    Re: Upgrade Fedora 26 > 27 Beta?

    Hi Fossiili

I used to do the upgrade F23-->F24, and F24-->F25

What I discovered is that with my year 2010 dual core system, it took many hours.

Instead, I backed up $HOME (my personal directory), and then proceeded to a custom reinstall with anaconda.

When choosing the type of anaconda installation, I choose custom (o) and the same disk as before.
When the list of partitions is shown, I select /, bios boot, and boot, and choose the reformat option. Do choose /home but do not choose reformat /home

You may choose to do a network installation or an installation from a Live ISO. I prefer the former.

If you are going to do what I do, Try This directory.

    ISO

A day or so after Fedora 27 goes live, I will post an update. That folder and the parent ones are worth exploring

    Re: Upgrade Fedora 26 > 27 Beta?

I'm sorry if this is too obvious but did you remember to change the command to specify 27 as below?

sudo dnf system-upgrade download --refresh --releasever=27

    sudo dnf system-upgrade reboot

    Re: Upgrade Fedora 26 > 27 Beta?

    Code:
    dnf system-upgrade download --refresh --releasever=27
    dnf system-upgrade reboot
This way it went. I had interest to follow the process and tried to understand it. I noticed that a lot of software was downloaded and that the number was 27 and that system-upgrade reboot was happening.

Now I have done as Isatenstein
    Try This directory.
    ISO
    downloading from http://mirror.yandex.ru/fedora/russi...on/x86_64/iso/
the RFRemix-Workstation-Live-x86_64-27_Beta-1.2.iso and soon I'l install it
