Suspend/Resume does not work correctly, but only if in battery mode

There is a problem with my ASUS ZenBook UX305U. I guess dependent on the kernel versions (updates) of my FC26, my ASUS notebook is not able to start from the suspend state, but only in the battery mode.
If the power cable is plugged in while opening the lid, the system does resume from suspend state without a problem.

This behavior toggled from time to time if new kernel versions are installed via "dnf update". So the last 10 week, the state was good and it worked also in battery mode.
But now with the last update a few days before (4.13.5-200.fc26.x86_64), the state changed. So resuming the system in battery mode forces a reboot.
I had the problem also some time ago, (FC24 or FC25) and a modification of the /etc/pm/config.d/unload_module (added SUSPEND_MODULES="xhci_hcd ehci_hcd uhci_hcd") solved the problem. But now it does not. How can I analyse the problem or better solve it ;-))

I cannot see anything in the system log. What is the problem ?

System log, while resume without power cable plugged in:

fwiw, suspend doesn't work at all in f26 xfce on either of my few-year-old Dell Latitude laptops.
