F26, SDDM: login fails, returns to login screen

Distro: Fedora 26 x86_64, KDE spin
    Hardware: i5-6500T, 8GB, 2x120GB SSDs + 3TB USB3 HDD + LVM cache, dual monitors.

    Symptoms:
    - Boots normally to SDDM login screen, both displays working and accepting user input.
    - Logging in to my user is accepted, and apparently works, except...
    - Immediatelly returns to the login screen, no error messages.

    Checked:
    - Free space: /home 1TB, / 28GB, /boot/* 500MB+, seems fine.
    - Logging in to console (CTRL+ALT+F2): works.
    - Logging in GUI as root: works.
    - Logging in GUI as a brand new user: works.
    - Remove all hidden stuff from my home folder: fails.
    - Empty home directory: fails.
    - Remove from /var/ all files whose name contains my login: fail.
    - Restore full home dir, console login to CTRL+ALT+F2, startx: works perfectly.

I am out of ideas... The complete lack of any error messages is really annoying...

The issue is specific to my user, but not stored in my home folder...

What else could I check / try to fix this?

Got it working by removing SDDM and installing KDM instead.

Still don't know why did that happen, anyways..

Re: F26, SDDM: login fails, returns to login screen

I'm having the same problem. I have the KDE spin, upgraded to 26. I also have Gnome and LXDE installed.
On the SDDM log in screen, I have the option of these DEs: Gnome Classic, Gnome X windows, Gnome Wayland, LXDE or Plasma. All have this problem except for Gnome Wayland, which I can log into normally. However, I can successfully login to Plasma as root.

I checked the logs and found the following error:
    Code:
    13:15:29 sddm-helper: ANOM_ABEND auid=1001 uid=1001 gid=1001 ses=41 subj=system_u:system_r:xdm_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023 pid=7318 comm="sddm-helper" exe="/usr/libexec/sddm-helper" sig=11 res=1

I tried disabling KDE Wallet services but it had no effect.

Re: F26, SDDM: login fails, returns to login screen

    Update...
The error messages I listed in my previous post were unrelated to the login problem.
My next step will be to re-install KDE.

For now, this work around works:
At login screen, switch to another virtual terminal:
    Ctrl-Shift-F2

Login on the command line then launch KDE manually:
    $ startx /usr/bin/startkde
