    Exclamation Bizzare problem with video playback after nvidia proprietary driver install

    As the name suggests i am having a really bezare problem after installing the nvidia proprietary drivers.

    none of my media players are playing video sound yes but no video.
    vlc keeps telling me my codecs arnt there so i tried
    Code:
    sudo dnf remove vlc
    sudo dnf install vlc
    rebboted and stilll nothing is working am i going mad or am i overlooking the obvious

    my system is runniing Fedora 26 with KDE

    KDE Plasma Version: 5.10.4
    KDE Framework Version: 5.36.0
    Qt Version: 5.7.1

    Kernel Version: 4.11.11-300.fc26.x86_64
    OS Type: 64 Bit

    Processors 2 x Intel Pentium D CPU @ 3.40GHz
    2.0 GB of DDR2 RAM

    GPU: GeForce GT 640 OEM With the NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-304.135-patched-kernel-4.11-v2.run driver installed and running

    I would try with mpv and see if that helps. I use alsa rather than pulse, and check with alsamixer, because alsa will often, on first install, have sound muted by default.

    thanks for your reply, sound is working no problems at all its just the video codecs that arnt working ( i.e avi,mpeg,mpg,mp4,h.26,h.226 etc) but they are installed via vlc install and dnf -y install gstreamer*

    I don't use VLC on Fedora, so I'm not sure. Generally, I install mpv from rpmfusion and all codecs work for me.

    after installing mpv i was lead to another error the
    mpv: error while loading shared libraries: libvdpau.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    after some googleing i was lead to a thread on github where it explaned that the problem was,

    and now VLC and mpv work flawlessly
