New words that I made up

At times, when I am testing downloaded software, or other stuff that I may not want to keep,

I create names for directories and programs.

One of my passionate directory names is gronk.

    cd /gronk.
When the debugging or learning is challanging, I use a directory called grunt
    cd /grunt

For a program whose name I want to remember, I call it a fif-a-lang.

I have no idea how fif-a-lang got into my brain, but its there

    cd /gronk
    fifalang.
    cd ..

Lets see your list of favourite names. There is a Canadian TV program called Schitts Creek. I was thinking of adopting part one of that name.

If you want a word that's tailor made for this kind of thing, consider using plergb. Plergb is specifically undefined, so you're supposed to define what you mean by it when you use it, such as, "Plergb, defined as I wish I knew what to say about that." Before using the word, be sure and read the Plergb Bylaws Summary to avoid improper usage, if such is possible.

I quite like confuzzled - it starts off confused and ends up puzzled - it describes my state of mind far too often.

this isn't original either but dilligaf springs to mind as a useful moniker for an SELinux policy tool.

My use of gronk started 40 years ago. Around 1975. I used it in Cobol programs,-- the promenant language at that time.

Perhaps I could add "cobol" as one of my alternative swear words, along with tso and fortran.

I sometimes call a testing program, segfault.

Our prime-minister's father used fuddle-duddle as a substitute swearword.

Re: New words that I made up

    new acronym - PEBDAR

definition - problem exists between developer and reality

example of usage - where a developer ignores user feedback concerning bugs and has their head buried in the sand or so far up their own derrier (the i'm never wrong attitude) they just don't contribute anything to a project and end up detracting from it

Re: New words that I made up

Interesting accronym. I have a few individuals who act as PEBDAR. They are so busy on the next version, that they don't bother with the existing one. New version software is so mentally demanding, that it's hard to break away from it's development. Thats why, large shops separate development from maintenance.
