April 4, 2017, Fedora 26 Alpha due out and is available.

    2017-04-04 Alpha Release

I have been using Fedora 26 for more than a month. This output which I am looking forward to test will allow me to

    a) Test multi-keyboard support.
    b) Anaconda -- I had problems
    c) test Network install version and l
    d) test Live ISO version.
    e) Retest the gccv7 compiler. I had quite a few error warnings that were not errors,
For example, I obtained a trivial warning about copying a field into a report heading without copying the trailing zero. I did not want the trailing null, but gcc 7 generated a warning.

Hopefully one single bugzilla code number will be assigned to collect all the bugs. I would prefer that to having to search to prove my bug is not a duplicate.

Hopefully the alpha will include the New LibreOffice product with the ribbon menu option

Re: April 4, 2017, Fedora 26 Alpha due out.

I located the F26 ALPHA 1.7 live test and network installation test
By the way, April 06 is a scheduled TEST for blivet.gui.

More information about that is here

Re: April 4, 2017, Fedora 26 Alpha due out.

There's a new spin available now for LXQT desktop environment. I'm downloading it to check it out as I've never been able to get it installed properly alongside MATE, XFCE or LXDE.

Seems the MATE and Cinnamon official alpha release builds failed but nightlies are available in their place.

I'd rather they used GParted instead of blivet but at least it's an alternative to the current partitioner in anaconda

Blivet-gui is not yet ready. I filed one bugzilla problem. You have no advantage over first using gparted, however, if you do not have gparted, with some tweaking, it could be very useful. With blivet-gui I was unable to allocate the bios- boot partition.

Why do we have to work upzide-down?
Why can't we have a list of directories and use that list to decide where and what size to make or reuse a partition, taking into account the placement. I always like to have / as the first partition and /boot as the last. It is a good rule for spinning hardware, but makes no difference when the storage is an SDD.
Giving priority to directories let's me spread my directories over my 5 disks. I like to keep /home on a separate drive from / .

Re: April 4, 2017, Fedora 26 Alpha due out.

blivet worked okay for my vm but i did a simple partition scheme using MBR so no BIOS-boot required. one oddity though is the created 8192MB swap volume isn't detected and mounted by the system. not too much of an issue since i've allocated 4096MB shared RAM to the VM and i'm using lxqt but if it were something more demanding I'd be concerned.

im running and getting used to the lxqt spin. it works okay for the most part even though it isn't finished as stated in the fedora 26 changelog.

dnfdragora seems okay (default package manager for lxqt spin) if a little slow gathering group information when searching for packages. It did the job though and installed what I chose okay.

the default browser is qupzilla, which i've used before and like.

minor niggles such as the terminal window not being the default so won't open a directory from pcmanfm, 'extract here' not finding the archive manager also need addressing but I recall experiencing those with LXDE in the past too.

guest additions won't install though, so I have set the VGA mode manually to fit my 5:4 flat panel using the appropriate vga=0x345 entry in the grub boot command.
