Audio pops when USB device is being connected/disconnected

I'm using Fedora 25 since something like a year on PC with Z-170 Deluxe mainboard and I have some issues with USB/audio drivers. Every time a USB device (mp3 player, hard disk etc.) is being connected/disconnected audio pops. I've tested also headphones on front audio output port and it didn't change anything. Here is a video presenting the problem: https://videobin.org/+h8u/l9e.html

Previously I was using Thinkpad T61 and Arch linux and I never had such issues so I event don't know what to investigate in order to find the source of the problem. Please help.

yep, leslie hit the nail on the head. it's a notification sound for device connection and disconnection specific to that desktop environment's setup.

It's none of the sounds listed there. I see: bark, drip, glass, sonar (I took the names from some screenshot found on Internet because as you noticed I have localized system). Those sounds are nice and crystal clear. Might be not so easy to hear on video I recorded, but sound coming out of the speakers when I connect USB is not cool at all - it's rather audio pop or some kind of sound distortion.

I know but it is a two-tone clicking notification noise. which desktop are you using? GNOME or Cinnamon?

So it seems like it's impossible to solve this issue (one of many). Thats bad. I think I'm switching back to Arch!

Why not turn off sound for devices. If I remember all, there is also an event signal management within Gnome. Since I use terminal mode a lot, I backset sound to the minimum. To do this, move the slider to the right, then back to the left. Apparently, Gnome defaults device sound to the maximum, with the slider at zero.

    that's bad as well

open volume control and see if you can alter the sound theme that way before jumping distros?

    or just disable system sounds

time to do a few seconds
open pavucontrol ( menu -> sound and video -> PulseAudio volume control
    click the playback TAB
click the speaker to mute system sounds

greyed out system sounds can be toggled back on by pressing the speaker icon again if you wish

play your fav sound in VLC (there is no other player heh heh)

Re: Sound pops when USB device is being connected/disconnected

On another note, I am still having this problem where when playing a movie via say mplayer, or also sound via xmms, every 10-15 minutes the audio "skips" a bit, looks like some sort of buffer underrun.

Sometimes it does like 3 or 4 "mini-repeats", say 0.25 seconds each.

    I am on FC25 (4.10.9-200.fc25.x86_64) LXDM + Xfce + Xorg.
    lspci says:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 7 Series/C216 Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04)

I never had any problems before FC24.

    FIXED in FC26

I can successfully say that the popping/sound-snippet-repeating issue has been solved in FC26, at least in the Alpha version.
