Intuos Art Wacom Tablet - CTH490AB

    Hello there,

I have a friend that is running Fedora 23 and just got an Intuos Art Wacom Tablet - CTH490AB, but apparently this Wacom tablet isn't supported yet because of how new it is.

I have been doing research and have found that there is four different driver code bases for these tablets.

Here's what I found (to make things easier)

This explains some of what's going on:
    http://libregraphicsworld.org/blog/e...blets-on-linux

Here are what seems to be four drivers for the wacom tablets:
    xorg-x11-drv-wacom

    linuxwacom
    http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net/wi...php/Linuxwacom

    libwacom
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/linu...iles/libwacom/

    input-wacom
    http://sourceforge.net/p/linuxwacom/...i/master/tree/

Can anyone please help me understand which drivers are needed and which ones I need to try to compile and update so my friend can have functionality until the wacom drivers make it into Fedora?

    Thanks

FWIW My suspicion is that you could achieve basic functionality with the software suite available on the Fedora repositories. That being said, there might be certain quirks that are not accommodated for the Intuos Art.

Try a 'dnf info *wacom*' and look for libwacom, libwacom-data, and xorg-x11-drv-wacom and then install them.

libwacom: is a library that provides information about Wacom tablets and tools. This information can then be used by drivers or applications to tweak the UI or general settings to match the physical tablet.

xorg-x11-drv-wacom: X.Org X11 wacom input driver for Wacom tablets.

The latest work (early January) on linuxwacom at sourceforge http://sourceforge.net/p/linuxwacom/...commit_browser is concentrating on INTUOSHT2 devices.

    I am using an Intuos3 PTZ-431W under Fedora 22.

    Good Luck

Yeah, I've installed them and the device isn't even responding. Like zero anything. The blue light turns on on the device, but I think that's just because it's getting power from the USB cable.

I recived the same tablet today and am having the same problem.
I have installed the kernel from rawhide 4.5.0 and with it the tablet kinda works but no gestures or multi finger functions, buttons work right two buttons are forward and back. left upper button is right click ... not very usable.
I also have a logitech T650 which has a simiular problem since a kernel upgrade about a month ago ... no three finger gestures and very shakey taping
I am hopeing that the next kernel will fix both problems :::::

I have just updated to the latest kernel for Fedora 23 (4.4.3-300.fc23.x86_64) and my Wacom Intuos Photo (CTH-490/K) is recognised and functioning - to a degree. I am unable to configure the short-cut buttons on the tablet. Also the mult-touch and gesture causes screen lockup if it is enabled. I would imagine that all the Wacom CTH-490 series tablets would also be recognised and functional to the same degree. This is a big step forward as I can now use the tablet well enough for photo-editing. Prior to this kernel, the tablet was not recognised at all.

with the 4.5.0 rc6 kernel from rawhide (I am not using rawhide, Korora 23 Gnome ).... mine is working very well,
both touch and pen .. buttons work. The only problem that I have is the touch movement is kinda slow.
I found out how to speed it up some .

For a wireless use this Command :
    xinput --set-prop "Wacom Intuos PT S 2 (WL) Finger" "303" 1

For a wired unit use this command :
    xinput --set-prop "Wacom Intuos PT S 2 Finger" "303" 1

It seams that it will not accept a speed greater that 1 ... the default is 0
    hope this helps .

Thanks Grayghost. You're much more willing to delve into the depths of the OS than I am! And good on you for that! I'm less willing to really play around in the nuts and bolts of a working system and prefer for those vastly more capable than me to figure all this stuff out. I gave up coding when I transitioned from my Commodore 64 to a 286... :-)

Nevertheless, I'll keep your tips in mind as we move forwards! I'm sure they'll come in very handy in the near future.
