Fedora 21 Stellarium not usable with my Desktop

I upgraded to Fedora 21 and now Stellarium no longer works. See log below.

Is there an earlier version of Stellarium (like 0.12.4) I can install for Fedora 21?

    Code:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 18) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
    Kernel driver in use: i915
    Kernel modules: i915

GL renderer is "Mesa DRI Intel(R) Ironlake Desktop "
GL Shading Language version is "1.20"
MESA Version Number after parsing: 10.4
Mesa version is fine, we should not see a graphics problem.
GLSL Version Number after parsing: 1.2
This is not enough: we need GLSL1.30 or later.
You should update graphics drivers, graphics hardware, or use the MESA version.
Else, please try to use an older version like 0.12.4, and try there with --safe-mode
You can try to run in an unsupported degraded mode by ignoring the warning and continuing.
But more than likely problems will persist.
Aborting due to OpenGL/GLSL version problems.

Re: Fedora 21 Stellarium not usable with my Desktop

I'm running Stellarium 0.13.2 on f21 with no problems. When I start stellarium from the cli, I get this:

    Code:
     stellarium
     -------------------------------------------------------
    [ This is Stellarium 0.13.2 - http://www.stellarium.org ]

      1 . "/usr/share/stellarium"
    Config file is: "/home/billt/.stellarium/config.ini"
    Detected: OpenGL "3.0"
Driver version string: "3.0 Mesa 10.4.3"
GL vendor is "Intel Open Source Technology Center"
GL renderer is "Mesa DRI Intel(R) Haswell Mobile "
GL Shading Language version is "1.30"
MESA Version Number after parsing: 10.4
Mesa version is fine, we should not see a graphics problem.
GLSL Version Number after parsing: 1.3
GLSL version is fine, we should not see a graphics problem.

Your driver version says Driver version string: "2.1 Mesa 10.4.3"

Are you missing some updates? Or maybe it is an ironlake vs haswell thing.

Should be the latest from yum. I just upgraded. The system is a 2010ish i3 Core with onboard intel graphics.

The issue is MESA - no ?

Re: Fedora 21 Stellarium not usable with my Desktop

I don't know if an earlier version is in koji or not. I'll look in a minute and see what I can find.

But, you may be correct. An earlier version might be your only option. From the stellarium site:

Graphics cards which are no longer supported by Stellarium 0.13 and later include early ATI/AMD Radeon cards up to and including the Xxxx series (built 2004/05), NVidia up to GeForce FXxxx (2003/04), and Intel GMA before X3000, unfortunately also including the popular Atom-based netbooks of 2010. For such systems, you need the MESA software rendering (circumventing the outdated graphics card on Windows, at cost of very slow performance), or you may use an older version of Stellarium. MESA is also used in many Linux installations, but allows hardware acceleration.
    Edit:

Found an older version in koji... 0.12.4-3 is available here:

    Perfect!

    Stellarium is back for me.

I wish the Stellarium folks weren't so anxious to obsolete those of us with older, but decent hardware.

    Just a note...

You might want to add a line to your /etc/yum.conf file to prevent stellarium from getting updated.

Edit your /etc/yum.conf file and add a line:

    Code:
    exclude=stellarium

    Thanks!

I added the line and it skipped stellarium on my most recent update.
