Burning Fedora 20 Source DVD iso (9+GB)

    Hi,

At first I thought the 9.2 GB size of the Fedora 20 Source DVD was a typo. The dl is done and this image is really 9+ GB.

Am I reading to much into the use of DVD? Should this iso fit on a DVD or is Blue-Ray or LIve USB Creator etc. really my only option?

    Thanks

If the source DVD is actually what you want then there is not much reason to care that it will not fit on a DVD.
I suspect you actually want an installation image. Is that so?

No, those (i386 and 64bit) installation iso's burn to dvd just fine.

I was just wondering why you wanted the source DVD. I should think it is only the source of what is on the installation DVD, which is not everything in the repos.

Why would you use live usb?, the source dvd has no installable media on it.
You could use dd to copy it to a usb key drive.

Right... just a lack of coffee. dd or just "mount the iso" as a disk.

I guess my real question is am I missing something? Is it possible to burn a 9.x GB iso to DVD DL and I am just not up with the latest stuff? Or is the DVD part of the name simply a mistake.

    ???

SRC is all the source code & libraries only useful to those very knowledgeable 'programmer-type' folk who want to edit/tweak then compile a very specific installation. It is a disk of original CODE (building blocks), not an 'installation' disk.

Is that what you really wanted?

Yes. At no time in this thread did I ever say anything about installing from this Source iso. Others might have but not I.

I want the sources in my bag for those long flights when I want to **** with some code and net access is spotty at best. Then there is always the potential for a zombie apocalypse. One can never be too careful, lol.

Since I never claimed to know everything, when I see Fedora put out a DVD that is 9.2GB in size, I ask for enlightenment before assuming it's a typo.

Ah - OK. Gotcha now / apologies. Most queries here normally involve installable media which is generally the size of a CD/DVD. Source code for that image however can grow much larger.

I see the plan now.... when the zombie hords come, he gives them the source DVD to let them start hacking the code, which keeps them occupied and distracted enough for him to make his escape. Clever.
