    Filtering in Gnumeric: how to?

If anyone here uses Gnumeric, can you tell how to filter data?
Gnumeric's help doesn't make sense, and there is no forum for Gnumeric to ask, web search was useless too.

I'm trying to filter rows, containing the same word (there is more than one word in the cell), in interrupted columns range. Or is the filtering possible only by the whole cell content?

There is no information what AutoFilter is or how to use it, and for Advanced filter, it seems that List Range is name of the sheet in quote marks ' ' with "!", the selection of all sheet's cells without headers, say A2-AD1100.

But what can I use as Criteria Range? For what I'm trying to filter, it cannot be a range of sells, only one cell's content.

And why copy title bars in free cells in the same sheet, as help says, why type criteria there, if it will be not used anyway?

    Can you clarify, please?

No idea. However, I would try reading the help for MS Excel. Chances are that Gnumeric will do the same!

    Don't have Excel, sorry.
Help of the Libre Office Calc worked well until now, but not for filtering.

Yes, but google for data help with Excel and you may find something.

Re: Filtering in Gnumeric: how to?

It works, exactly as described for Excel:

    1. Make sure that each column contain the same type of data (no date and text formats in the same colum, but could be general format for both).
    2. Click on header of the column that contains cell with content to be filtered.
    3. Data > Filter > AutoFilter
    4. Each column header will have drop box with arrow. Click on arrow column that contains terms to be filtered, choose them.
    5. Now only rows containing search term will be visible.

Unfortunately, the next action, Copy Only Visible (to copy filter results to another sheeth) is not working in Gnumeric. It was reported as a bug in 2004 and recent entry hints that this is not going to be implemented.

    So, the choice is:
1 - either copy/paste ea row manually (unless you have hundreds of them)
2 - or switch to Libre office or Calligra suite spreadsheets. Real pity.

Thank you for the sound advice, it worked very well for me.
    Problem solved.
