error with nvidia install in akmod

Not sure where to report this but I ran into a problem with akmod and the nvidia driver from rpmfusion. Did a new install of Fedora 20 and did the nvidia install as per the guide on this site. Afterwards, X refused to start, due to lack of driver. For some reason, akmod is not creating the nvidia driver. Switching to kmod fixed the issue.

If you got an error like this it's due to selinux

Re: error with nvidia install in akmod

Nope. I turn off selinux right off the bat. The error I got was that there was no driver and then that it couldn't find any screens. I have another install to do today, I will see if I get the same error and report back.

Re: error with nvidia install in akmod

I was having trouble with Nvidia. What I finally did was log out, Ctrl-Alt-F4, log in, log into root, type init 3,
Install your nvidia from init 3. Reboot. That should work. Installing it this way basically turns off the X-windows system while installing Nvidia...at least that's what I think it does. Any way. This worked for me. I know very little but this method did work.

Re: error with nvidia install in akmod

    Leigh,

So I found the culprit after looking at the other guide. I was missing kernel-devel. Is that a package that should be required by akmod or some other package? I can't remember ever having to go get that package manually before but it could just be me.
