It you're referring to those little 'converters' that often came with the mouse - I've never had one work in any of the machines on which I tried it, Windows or Linux. Given that wired mice are so cheap now, it just isn't worth the hassle IMO.

I had a Microsoft Mouse which was wireless and came with its own PS/2 to USB converter for the receiver. This worked well but the mouse has to be designed to cope with both protocols, AFAIK you cannot just use any old mouse with a converter.

I've run across the issue before - and one problem was that the mouse required too much power for the USB converter to handle. I've read reports of this being fixed by using an external power for the mouse instead of through the adapter.

but this converter works fine with Windows 7/Vista or Ubuntu Linux(3.x kernel). so, I was wondering what is wrong?
