Brightness keys on Acer 5742 not working
Hi,
the problem is that the shortcuts Fn + arrow keys don't change the value of the brightness in my Acer aspire 5742 screen;
I try a lot of things but nothing works for my case;
I hope to find a solution here

Welcome to the Forum. Please do not use large or coloured text unless it really improves the readability of your post. Unnecessarily large or bright text comes across like shouting.
Also, the best way to get a fast and useful answer is to include relevant system details in the question. What version of Fedora are you using? Is it up-to-date with the latest software updates? Are you using GNOME (the default Fedora desktop), or one of the alternative desktops? Do you get any feedback at all when using the brightness buttons (e.g. on-screen overlays etc.)?

Seriously? Surely this isn't your first web forum.
Had you read the Posting Rules ...
13). Use the default font type, size, color, and justification in posts.
There are various font types, sizes, colors and other options available for the text in posts. However, the default font type, color, size, and justification should be used for all routine post text. Use other font types, colors, and sizes sparingly and only when needed for emphasis or special formatting circumstances. Using non-default font attributes routinely or capriciously will not be allowed. Staff members may edit such posts and issue a warning to stop the practice.
Alas, this isn't the big deal I may make it out to be. The reasoning puzzles me though. Carry on.

Okay, so GNOME is recognizing the brightness keys okay, which rules out a keyboard configuration issue (see why posting more info helps
).
Unfortunately, that leaves the issue most likely being a driver or driver-interface problem.
Anyone know anything about that? There have been a few threads recently about something similar, so also give the forum a search (e.g. “brightness key” gives several results).
