dead keys work just once in a while...
Hey Fedora Community!
I have recently installed F18.
I have a german keyboard and since I have to write a lot in portuguese I am in desperate need for dead keys. I have set the keyboard to "German (Austria)" in the system settings, which normally includes activated dead keys.
However the dead keys are just abiitrarily activated, let's say every third time I reboot the system. Can anybody give me a hand in this?

Ah and I almost forgot: Dead keys seem to be NEVER activated in Skype...

Re: dead keys work just once in a while...
Okay, as there is still no reply here comes my "workaround":
In the system settings menu I selected another input language as well (doesn´t matter which one). A button appears in the panel and you have to switch two your second language and back in order to get the right keyboard setting loaded which then works. Still this is not an elegant method nor does it solve the problem with qt applications, wich refuse until today to accept dead keys.
Any suggestions?

A better workaround is to downgrade imsettings. See https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=917130
