Lightbulb Netflix Fedora Watch Movies & TV Shows Online

BREAKING NEWS! Netflix on Fedora linux work! After several tests we decided to share with you, a few months ago, our friends at I Heart Ubuntu made a call to the community to get Netflix on Ubuntu. Somehow. Legally. Without the need to install a virtual operating system or booting into it. Something as natural as possible. On that basis, although we have a plugin for Silverligh open this very buggy , Netflix is impossible to run this way.

Thanks to Erich Hoover who created Silverligh patches to work properly, we can now enjoy this benefit, these patches are applied before the wine source code, in order to compile.

    NEW SOLUTION

    Pipelight

    dependencies (optional):

    wget

    Code:
su -c 'yum -y install wget'
    msttcorefonts

    Code:
    su -c 'yum -y localinstall http://sourceforge.net/projects/postinstaller/files/fuduntu/msttcorefonts-2.0-2.noarch.rpm'
    OpenCL (thanks wacmaster )

    Code:
    yum -y install opencl-utils

    INSTALLATION (Update 10-23-2013)

If you have PostInstallerF, you can install easy Netflix-Desktop http://sourceforge.net/projects/postinstaller/

    Code:
    32 bits

    rm -rf $HOME/.netflix-desktop
    rm -rf $HOME/.netflix-tmp

    yum -y install http://sourceforge.net/projects/postinstaller/files/fedora/releases/19/i386/updates/wine-silverligh-1.7.2-1.fc19.i686.rpm

    yum -y install http://sourceforge.net/projects/postinstaller/files/fedora/releases/19/i386/updates/netflix-desktop-0.7.0-7.fc19.noarch.rpm

    64bits

    rm -rf $HOME/.netflix-desktop
    rm -rf $HOME/.netflix-tmp

    yum -y install http://sourceforge.net/projects/postinstaller/files/fedora/releases/19/x86_64/updates/wine-silverligh-1.7.2-1.fc19.x86_64.rpm

    yum -y install http://sourceforge.net/projects/postinstaller/files/fedora/releases/19/x86_64/updates/netflix-desktop-0.7.0-7.fc19.noarch.rpm

    How to use?

    F11 (full screen)

contextual menu (close, back, forward, full screen)

    known errors

Netflix don't play because silverligh 5 is requerided

    from a terminal...

    Code:
    rm -rf $HOME/.netflix-desktop
    Disable the auto-updater:

    1) right-click on the Silverlight plugin once you've launched a movie (or anything that uses Silverlight)
    2) choose "Silverlight" (the only option)
    3) click the "Updates" tab
    4) choose "Never check for updates"
    5) click "OK"

    NEXT

press F11 to get into window mode.
Then press F10. Go to Options/Preferences ->Advanced-> updates, then disable the automatic browser update.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Netflix Desktop depends thereof Erich Hoover patches, therefore presents the same problems.

If you want to have updated Netflix-Desktop, consider to install PostInstallerF

Re: Netflix Fedora Watch Movies & TV Shows Online

Except that Netflix NOW requires you to give up your rights to sue and submit to binding arbitration (for which they PAY) - you didn't read the "agreement" - you just clicked it so you could get more movies, didn't you?

I didn't and Netflix terminated me.

By the way, PayPal has also required you to "opt out" of this very SAME agreement - but I can find absolutely NO "opt out" on their site - I've looked.

    - I might mention that all those [Accept] boxes you've been clicking without reading ('cause you just HAD to have what ever it was, or just didn't want to be bothered reading) ... You've given up your rights each time! The two I mention above are are only the LATEST - you've been agreeing to give up your legal rights all over the place (for a song, or a movie, or a credit card, or who knows what).

Freedom is lost NOT in one "fell swoop" - it is lost a "chip at a time" - with the exception of the CHUNK we gave up when G. W. Bush enacted the "Patriot Act" and we didn't SCREAM about.

Anyway - I've no longer any use for a company that requires me to give up my rights. You choose as you see fit.

For Paypal, you have to send a snail mail. (Not joking). I did that, I haven't heard anything though.
Don't know about Netflix--this is actually quite a common thing these days, but I suspect that if someone really gets enough folks ticked off that it will be declared invalid. However, I'm not a lawyer.

    hummmm???

so, ah, er, do I have to install wine to get the Netflix program to work?

hope I'm not off topic here??
I'd like to give Netflix a try but I don't want to have run Windows to do it.

Nice to know I can watch Netflix online, if I decide I want the extra monthly expense.

I'm happy with my DVD through the mail account. Usually get two a week.

Hi, please run from a terminal
    Code:
    sh /usr/bin/Netflix.sh
and and paste here what appears on your screen. I need to find the problem.

Thanks, This seems to be an error of "wine" for 64bit platforms, check if exists the following directories: / opt/Netflix64/bin/wine64.

If the path does not exist, probably is a bug in the installer.

If exists path, then possibly "wine" for 64bit platform is the problem. Netflix uses Windows Firefox, and silverligh only support 32-bit platforms.

Netflix Player works properly on 32-bit platforms, sorry
