    amd/ati/radeon fglrx drivers

    How do I obtain FGLRX Graphics Drivers to instaall. I seaarched in Add?Remove Software under catalyst but haad no luck. THANK YOU

    Try the rpmfusion repository or ATI ;-)

    Nice attitude my friend george...

    If you think that EVERYONE that uses -or want to- fedora are most like software engineering people guess what, you are wrong..

    And if you think that anyone can stand that kind of attitude and return for asking help, you are very wrong....

    I think that you were kind of infant-genius......yes?

    @ OG1958 It is impossible now to install or use fglrx...for ati...under fedora and 3.4.x kernel.

    So long fedora and fedora-that-kind-of-people....

    He didn't say he was using Fedora 17 or kernel 3.4.y

    That statement isn't correct, FGLRX 12.4 from rpmfusion and the 3.4 kernel works fine on F16.

    I aam using Fedora 17 and the 3.4 kernel. Sorry for not specifying that=Guess i should have. Mt card is an MSI Radeon 5450. THANK YOU! in advance.

    (Unofficial) Fedora 17 Installation Guide for the AMD Catalyst Drivers

    I can confirm that the AMD Catalyst 12.6 beta driver is working with F17, kernel 3.3.7-3, and Xorg 1.12.2. Note the the first sentence of the instructions on that linked wiki page, above, says that even if you have kernel 3.4 the procedure will work. (But I think at the end of it you'll need to be booting with the 3.3 kernel you install during the procedure.)

    After you get the Catalyst beta driver installed, there is an annoying watermark in the lower right corner. You can get rid of it with this:

    Install rpmfusion repository first if you haven't done this already.

    Sorry if this is a little long winded, i tried to keep it simple.

    In order to get Catalyst 12.6 working with 3.5 x86_64 Kernel you need to.
    sudo yum install dkms
    Down Catalyst 12.6 wget "http://www2.ati.com/drivers/hotfix/catalyst_12.6_hotfixes/amd-driver-installer-8.98-x86.x86_64.zip"
    Extract then run sh ./amd-driver-installer-12-4-x86.x86_64.run --extract FGLRX

    cd FGLRX
    wget "http://catalyst.apocalypsus.net/tarball/0_TESTING/catalyst-hook.tar.gz"
    tar -xf catalyst-hook.tar.gz
    cp ./catalyst-hook/*.* .
    patch -p1 <./3.4.patch
    patch -p1 <./3.5-do_mmap.patch
    sudo gedit /usr/src/kernels/3.2.9-2.fc16.x86_64/arch/x86/include/asm/uaccess_64.h
    comment out line 56/57 - else & WARN(1, "Buffer overflow detected!\n");
    sudo ./ati-installer.sh 8.980 --install
    When finished check /usr/share/ati/fglrx-install.log and confirm no errors. If any exist use /usr/share/ati/fglrx-uninstall.sh to undo.
    log out to login screen and log back in.
    If you have Hybrid graphics run - sudo /usr/lib64/fglrx/switchlibGL amd
    sudo aticonfig --initial
    Open your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and add the following line to “Device” section with fglrx as driver - Option "SWCursor" "true"
    Reboot and should be good to go.

    the rpm fusion package didn't work for me and must've been an old version of Catalyst as the RPM was missing the hybrid switch files
