    BFO install F17

Anybody had success with http://boot.fedoraproject.org/ for Fedora 17?

I succesfully downloaded the bfo.usb image and copied it to a USB device.

The boot proces started from USB as supposed to, and choose the appropriate fedora17 image. It succesfully downloaded the boot image files in order proceed with boot.

Unfortunately, it all ended in a debug shell after a dracut-related error. The error seems to be similar to this: http://osdir.com/ml/fedora-test-list.../msg00303.html ?

Is it a common problem, and in case so: any plans to fix it?

No suggestions on how I can get through this?

    Any ideas for debugging?

I really like the idea of the BFO method. Hence, it's really a shame, that it doesn't work...

    Re: BFO install F17

I too am trying this and get the same results.

Did you get any further on this?

vmlinuz and initrd.img download correctly. The boot process appears to start and anaconda is loaded because it spits out messages relating to /dev/sr0 where it cannot find an image then I get,

[35.617391] dracut Warning: Unable to process initqueue
[35.659644] dracut Warning: /dev/root does not exist
    Dropping to debug shell.
    dracut:/#

Is this similar to your issue?

Yep, it seems so. And thanks for keeping the thread active?

Do you have the possibility to copy the entire dmesg output into a file and post it here?

I informed the Fedora infrastructure mailing list about my issue and this thread - I'm sure, they would appreciate further details (I haven't been able to mount any external drives myself yet, so I have no access to the interesting details of the BFO trial.

    Best regards,
    Kenneth

    Re: BFO install F17

I've not seen any reports of problems installing from boot.fedoraproject.org.

yes, a full dmesg output would be great.

Also, does the Fedora 16 entry do the same thing?

    Re: BFO install F17

i'm seeing exactly the same issue when booting via pxe on a kvm virtual guest. i see someone on the redhat bugzilla seeing similar issues with kickstart files, so i think f17 may have changed something about the boot process...

and i just tested f16 in my same scenario and it works as expected. definitely something changed with f17.

    Yes, it's changed:

    http://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/....html#id401015

I did have something wrong on the f17 boot.fedoraproject.org entry.

Can you folks try it again? Is it working for you now?

    Re: BFO install F17

I see its fixed. I went the F16 route and it worked. Now doing a preupgrade.

    Thanks for correcting the issue.
