Re: Reinstall fedora while keeping /home intact

I actually took the latest ISO and just overinstalled without reformatting /, /boot, swap, /home
Worked like a charm. anaconda did not overwrite what was more recent since the initial installation.

So this was an upgrade you did? Did you use the partitioning tool? Thanks,

Re: Reinstall fedora while keeping /home intact

    Hi Mike
When I installed my Drive, for my needs 135gigs was what I had available.
    Using gparted,
    1) I set aside 1megabyte unformatted.
    2) next 1 gig for /boot ext4
    3) next 30gigs for / xfs
    4) 8gigs for swap
    5) 25gigs for /home ext4 I did not need more space
    6) some spare space incase I needed to expand /home. ext4

When you reinstall, on the anaconda listing drives you choose your drive(s).
If you have multiple drives, at the botton of the display, use that link to tell anaconda which of the selected drives is to be used for boot.
Next page, tell anaconda that you want to do a custom installation.
Use the information below, to assign biosboot, /boot (reformat), / (reformat xfs), swap (reformat), and /home no reformat
I then choose the software I want and it's a "go". I then create root password and my own user, clicking on the [ x] checkbox.
I use a second drive for much of my data that I do not need on /home
My ~ folder has dropbox, and the hidden files, of which there are many and some are of large size. (Firefox=Mozilla's, for example)
