    Gnome-Shell crashes at first login

Somewhere I've read that it is a known Problem, that gnome-shell crashes (Sad computer) unless you disable selinux (or at elast set it in permissive mode). Funnily it only happens on my asus eeepc, but not on my other laptop.

So, how can I solve that issue? Is there a solution anyway, or should I file a new Bug report? Can someone point me in the right direction, please?

The fedora is fully updated (except some evince packages because of a missing poppler dependancy).

Re: Gnome-Shell crashes unless setenforce 0

    tried relabelling the file system?

touch /.autorelabel && reboot (hopefully that works)

    or:

    restorecon -R -v -F /
    reboot

Re: Gnome-Shell crashes unless setenforce 0

so. little update. now it's even weirder: gnome-shell crashes at the first login, but works on the second try.

sorry for wasting a dev's time and blaming selinux

[edit] could a mod change the thread title?

[edit2] in case I wasn't clear: relabeling and restorecon didn't change anything about it...

Re: Gnome-Shell crashes at first login

I have had the same problem since yesterday. Doing an update did nothing, however disabling wireless and unplugging the network cable when I log in seems to have solved the problem. (Although all of these could be coincidences)

I've had this problem since update to gnome 3.2. I don't know what's responsible

Re: Gnome-Shell crashes at first login

when this happens you have to look in ~/.xsession-errors to find out what's crashing and causing the problem. you should usually then be able to find the crash listed in abrt-gui and report it.

Re: Gnome-Shell crashes at first login

you have to look at it after the failed login attempt, *before* the successful one, as it gets overwritten at each login.

Ok thanks for the tip. I guess you're talking using ssh to log into the sick machine

Yep, I've had a similar thing. I can't log into gnome. Seems like it's almost loaded then says it ran into a problem and have to bail out. But it works fine if I log in as root. I kept thinking it was some sort of permissions issue. KDE works fine, though.
