    How can I edit the menu in Gnome Shell?

    I just want to be able to remove a couple programs listed in the menu if possible.

    Any ideas?

    all you have to do is either
    Code:
    yum erase <program name>
    or use Add/Remove to remove packages

    Fedora 16:

    Code:
    $ alacarte

        from Alacarte.MainWindow import MainWindow
      File "/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/Alacarte/MainWindow.py", line 19, in <module>
        import gtk, gmenu, gobject, gio

    Think you're better off just editing/adding desktop files in /usr/share/applications for now.

    I think it would be much better be to copy the relevant files to the user's ${HOME}/.local/share/applications/ and edit them there. That way you will not step on the package manager's toes. Additionally this prevents the package manager from overwriting your changes when the package whose files you edited gets updated.
