    DokuWiki: Unable to admin

    Hey there,

    I'm trying to get DokuWiki running on Fedora 14 and Apache 2, but I run into some problem which was appearently described earlier

    and seems to have gone unsolved in those threads.

    I have Apache 2 running (which I can see by surfing to "localhost") and I have DokuWiki callable (which I can see by surfing to "localhost/dokuwiki").

    Also, I adjusted the SELINUX context as described by http://www.dokuwiki.org/install:fedora.

    Since the DokuWiki installation is totally fresh, I should now either be able to call "localhost/dokuwiki/install.php" to do further adjustments or to call some admin.php by URL or using some button on the local DokuWiki start page.

    However, none of the admin scripts is callable by URL, and there's no admin button shown on the DokuWiki start page.

    I'm pretty clueless regarding where to look next.

    Any ideas, romans?
    Thx, Dan.

    Hey Dan,

    I resolved this, but I don't remember how. I think that I chown and chgrp the /dokuwiki folder and it's containing files to the apache user and group.

    Log files were of great help when I was attempting to get MoinMoin working, especially /etc/httpd/logs/access_log and error_log.

    Re: DokuWiki: Unable to admin

    Thx. for responding promptly.

    Here's a little update:

    @glennzo:
    The Apache logfile @ /etc/httpd/logs/access_log doesn't show anything unexpected, the error_log mentions that avahi_entry_group_add_service_strlst("localhost") failed: Invalid host name.

    @Joebakb:
    chown of dokuwiki's data directory to apache:apache doesn't lead to apparent changes.

    Calling http://localhost/dokuwiki/doku.php?do=admin gives the dokuwiki start page with a line right at the top of the page on red background saying Command unavailable: admin, while calling http://localhost/dokuwiki/doku.php?do=debug returns Command unknown: debug.

    Workaround

    I compared the script /conf/dokuwiki.php from the original DokuWiki tgz at http://www.splitbrain.org/projects/dokuwiki with the /conf/dokuwiki.php created by the RPM / yum / yumex install of the package dokuwiki-0-0.7.20101107.a.fc14 and realized that the only difference is the definition of the data directory.

    So I made up this workaround:
    (Become root to do steps 3 to 9.)

    1. Install package dokuwiki-0-0.7.20101107.a.fc14 (and possibly dokuwiki-selinux).
    2. Download the original DokuWiki tgz at http://www.splitbrain.org/projects/dokuwiki.
    3. Copy the script install.php from the tgz archive to /usr/share/dokuwiki
    4. Symlink from /usr/share/dokuwiki/data to /var/lib/dokuwiki/data
    5. Rename /usr/share/dokuwiki/conf/dokuwiki.php to dokuwiki.php.bak
    6. Copy the original script /conf/dokuwiki.php from the tgz archive to /usr/share/dokuwiki/conf
    7. Rename /usr/share/dokuwiki/conf/local.php to local.php.bak
    8. Rename /usr/share/dokuwiki/conf/users.auth.php to user.auth.php.bak
    9. Rename /usr/share/dokuwiki/conf/acl.auth.php to acl.auth.php.bak
    10. Call /dokwiki/install.php on your http server.

    The script install.php will guide the user through the setup process of DokuWiki and will arrange for a default DokuWiki user.
