    I know of three offhand:

If you just want to create UML diagrams for printing or display, there is Dia, which comes with UML symbols. Package is in the Fedora repo.

A more UML-specific app is violet, which you can download from Sourceforge. Home page is at http://alexdp.free.fr/violetumleditor/page.php.

Finally, there is the Eclipse Model Development Tools (MDT). If you want to generate UML class diagrams from source or vice-versa, this is the way to go. See http://www.vogella.de/articles/UML/article.html for a good tutorial.

It looks like a reasonably competent tool, though some of the on-line docs could do with a review by someone who speaks English.

However, commercial packages like this introduce a problem of long term maintainability for projects.
You will need to keep the product licensed for as long as the project is being maintained. If you need these tools to develop your project, then they are even more important for those that need to maintain it later.

Why do you want to specifically install a tool to use it? You can use a web based/online UML tool like Creately to get all your diagrams done. The most important thing is the open source / freemium tool should be updated to the latest UML version (2.5.1) which has 14 major uml diagram types.

A web based product is probably even worse than having to license a commercial product.
A lot of software gets to be maintained for many years, (I've seen decades). You need to be able to make adjustments to the design documents as the software inevitable evolves. With a web based design its likely that the product would not be able to survive much longer than web site.
