    How-to: Disable Suspend and Hibernate on Fedora 14

    Using your favorite text editor as root, open:

    /usr/share/polkit-1/actions/org.freedesktop.upower.policy

    In this file you will find some xml, the sections you are looking for are:

    <action id="org.freedesktop.upower.suspend">

    and

    <action id="org.freedesktop.upower.hibernate">

    Within both of these there is an element called <defaults>, in the <defaults> element for both there is an element called <allow_active>. Between <allow_active>yes</allow_active> change the "yes" to "no" without quotes for both.

    Save the changes and reboot.

    Suspend and hibernate are now not available.

    Touching anything under /usr/share is a bad idea.
    Your changes will be overwritten after next upower update.

    Create a new file in /etc instead:

    Code:
    # vi /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/50-disable-suspend.pkla
    And copy the following text into that file:

    Code:
    [Disable Suspend]
    Identity=unix-user:*
    Action=org.freedesktop.upower.hibernate;org.freedesktop.upower.suspend
    ResultAny=no
    ResultInactive=no
    ResultActive=no
