I'll test this in a little bit. I'm using the same device (PL2303) on a ZD7000. I upgraded from FC2 and I've got a few problems to sort through first.

Linus et al have released 1.6.10-rc1. I notice that there are a large number of usb_serial, PL2303 and usb_storage changes in it.

I am having the same problem with FC2 with an upgraded kernel 2.6.9 (with nitro1 patches).
It worked with previous kernel releases with the same Fedora release, seems to be a kernel-related problem.

USB Serial works fine on my machine now.
I am running FC3rc5 with kernel 2.6.9-1.667.
This setup (and better) will be released to the public early next week (Nov 8th) as the live Fedora Core 3 install.
I am using a PL2303 device. USB recognizes it as a hot plug and everything. Even hardware handshaking works.
