    Cannot setup Livna repository or install libdvdcss

    Hi,

    I did a fresh install of Fedora 13, 32-bit, with GNOME desktop. My goal is to watch DVDs with VLC media player.
    I followed the steps in this website to install the media players, codecs, VLC etc. -

    Code:
    http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-fedora-f13.html
    Everything was successful until I got stuck at this point (the DVD Playback section) -

    Code:
    #Setup the Livna Repository:
    [mirandam@charon ~]$ sudo rpm -ivh http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release.rpm
    [mirandam@charon ~]$ sudo rpm --import /etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-livna
    # Installation through yum with Livna enabled:
    [mirandam@charon ~]$ sudo yum install libdvdcss
    I see this in my laptop -

    Code:
    [root@localhost ~]#
    [root@localhost ~]# rpm -ivh http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release.rpm
    Retrieving http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release.rpm
    curl: (7) couldn't connect to host
    error: skipping http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release.rpm - transfer failed
    [root@localhost ~]#
    I checked the rpm.livna.org website via Firefox and I see that it's down. How should I proceed ?

    Thanks,
    pretz

    With the livna repo down at the moment, I would do,
    Code:
    wget ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/atrpms.net/f13-i386/atrpms/stable/libdvdcss-1.2.10-5.fc13.i686.rpm
    su
    rpm -ivh libdvdcss*

    That doesn't quite work.
    The key import and installation of libdvdcss fails, even though the first command (rpm -ivh) works for this ftp site.

    Code:
    [root@localhost Downloads]#
    [root@localhost Downloads]# rpm -ivh ftp://ftp.pbone.net/mirror/rpm.livna.org/livna-release.rpm

    The wget command is successful, and I can see the libdvdcss*.rpm in my directory.
    But the next command (rpm -ivh) fails.

    Ok, I have been following the discussion on this thread -

    Code:
    http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=251005
    DangerMouse's suggestion worked for me. So libdvdcss is installed and I can view DVDs now.

    One question though. I see an error when I list the yum repositories.

    Code:
    [root@localhost ~]#
    [root@localhost ~]# yum repolist
    Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, presto, refresh-packagekit

    Re: Cannot setup Livna repository or install libdvdcss

    You could have also modified the livna.repo, commented out the mirrorlist and added ftp.pbone.net as baseurl on top. I'm sure this will work, at least my livna repo for Fedora 7 is working this way.

    Re: Cannot setup Livna repository or install libdvdcss

    This is the way I solved it om my Fedora 13, 32-bit, GNOME and it works for me playing films on DVD and VLC mediaplayer. This was done from a clean and updated installation.

    yum install libdvdread libdvdnav gstreamer-plugins-ugly # Finding my DVD-device
    rpm -ivh http://dl.atrpms.net/all/libdvdcss2-....fc13.i686.rpm # Connect to the repository containing libdvdcss2

    cd /tmp/
    wget http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/rele...071007.tar.bz2 # Download the codecs
    tar xfvj all-20071007.tar.bz2 # Unpack
    mkdir /usr/lib/codecs/ # Make the directory if it does not exist
    cp all-20071007/* /usr/lib/codecs/ # Copy your new files to your new directory
    ln -s /usr/lib/codecs/ /usr/lib/win32 # Make a link between to directories

    yum install vlc # Install VLC mediaplayer

    I hope this will help you!

    Re: Cannot setup Livna repository or install libdvdcss

    Looks like ftp.pbone.net is missing something in repodata folder but http://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub.../rpm.livna.org will work when you comment out the mirrorlist line and uncomment the baseurl line.

    Code:
    su -
    gedit /etc/yum.repos.d/livna.repo
    Make it look like this:
    Code:
    [livna]
    name=rpm.livna.org for $releasever - $basearch
    baseurl=http://rpm.livna.org/repo/$releasever/$basearch/ http://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub/Mirrors/rpm.livna.org/repo/$releasever/$basearch/
    #mirrorlist=http://rpm.livna.org/mirrorlist
    failovermethod=roundrobin
    enabled=1
    gpgcheck=1
    gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-livna
