    Full-screen Flash video

I just installed F13 on a brand new ThinkPad SL510. Absolutely everything works like a dream as far as Fedora is concerned.

I noticed that Adobe's Flash plugin video hangs if it's made full-screen. E.g. making a Youtube video full-screen displays one stuck frame of the video across the whole screen. Sound keeps playing and the plugin does not crash. I can put it back into embedded mode in the browsr window and the video continues to play without problems. This laptop has the integrated Intel GM45 graphics chip (GMA 4500MHD) and I'm using the default Intel X.org driver in F13, which otherwise works well.

I know that I can view the video files with other media players from /tmp, but I' just like to know if others are running into this and whether there's a way to make the Flash plugin work.

    Re: Full-screen Flash video

I have the same problem. I've read several times about preloading libGL.so.1
But that didnt work for me
    you can try by
    Code:
    env LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libGL.so.1 firefox
if that does not work try to disable hardware acceleration (right click on the flash element)

I will tell if i find anyother solution.
Also in my case flash chrashes randomly after ~20min of watching movie.

Thanks for your reply. Neither of those things help on my system either. I think I agree with Steven Jobs on this one: Flash needs to go away.

    Re: Full-screen Flash video

Oooops, just realized that this only happens on Compiz in my case. The settings of the Flash plugin and prelink don't seem to have any effect, but fullscreen works on Metacity and it does not on Compiz. So, I suppose the Flash plugin doesn't interact well with a 3d-accelerated desktop.

compiz enabled here, still fullscreen works.
but I read alot about that they don't like each other (buttons in flash not responding)

    Re: Full-screen Flash video

Did you try out the 10.1 release candidate? Rc6 is their latest and it plays fullscreen videos smoother than 10.0. First uninstall adobe flash from the package manager. Then grab the compressed .tar.gz file and extract libflashplayer.so to ~/.mozilla/plugins/

    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html

Let us know if it works a little better now.

    Re: Full-screen Flash video

Same difference. I tried 10.1r53, and the picture hangs just the same as with 10.0.45.2 on Compiz. Both work on Metacity. As I said, this with the Intel X.org driver.

    Re: Full-screen Flash video

    Setup:
    - firefox 3.6.3
    - flash 10.0.45.2 (64 bits)
    - KDE
    - nvidia drivers

Going fullscreen gives me a black screen (but sounds play ok and i can go back to the embedded player).
    - disabling hardware acceleration : no change
    - preloading libGL.so.1 : no change

    However...
Upgrading flash to 10.1 rc6 (32 bits) : fullscreen works!

It looks like the beta flash plugin is the solution (in my case anyway). Thanks!

    Re: Full-screen Flash video

Disabling compiz fixed the problem for me.

Which do I like more: compiz or fullscreen flash? Hmm.

    I'm on the same boat.

Intel Graphics. Flash fullscreen not working with Compiz. Going back to Metacity solves it.

    I want both!
