[FC12] thunderbird-lightning doesn't show up in thunderbird interface

I have thunderbird-lightning rpm installed but it doesnt show up in thunderbird..

in fc11 with thunderbird 2 it was on the left bottom of the screen i think.

i checked all the settings tabs but i can't find any reference to ligtning.

so.. is this a bug or is there something i have to do to see it?

for now i'm using the standalone app sunbird but i really like to have the intergrated ligtning back in thunderbird.

    any suggestions?

I also tried the lightning plugin from the plugins tab but it complains it's not compatible with gcc3 or something so i guess that's why there is a rpm package.

I'll have to doublecheck, but I think it's under tools/calendar or something like that. There should be something in the menu, somewhere, for calendar.

I believe it's integrated in the Events and Tasks menu.

Usually when thunderbird releases a new version, lightning requires an update as well to be compatible. Install the "latest lightning nightly builds" extension. This will place a nice little update option in the thunderbird Help menu. Only problem is the latest lightning update is not yet compatible with thunderbird 3.0.2. Give them a little time, you shouldn't lose any of your stuff.

    hmmz..
strange that the fedora maintainers include a thunderbird-lightning rpm that has never worked...

i'm surprised you say that. my thunderbird-lightning always worked flawlessly. and by the way have you tried F11 or View->Today Pane->View Today Pane?

coincidently i just noticed updated packages for thunderbird & thunderbird-lightning

just installed them and restarted firfox but alas.. no calendar still..

    F11?
does nothing.. what is it supposed to do?

    View->Today Pane->View Today Pane?
under View i don't have any "Today Pane" entry.

are we talking the same version here?

mine is: 3.0.3 (default fc12 install)

F11 shows/hides the calendar panel from the right side of the screen. If you don't have View/Today Pane submenu than is definitely something wrong at your end. oh, and of course i was talking about the up to date version. i thought that goes without saying.
my output is a little different:

Lightning doesn't show up as a separate thing now. There is an Events and Task on the top menu bar. I had always thought that was the new look for Tbird integrated with lightning.

I see that Fedora also, as they do with firefox, includes 60 plus language packs, whether you ask
    for them or not.

    Haters never win

Fedora bashing isn't going to solve problems.

Go here, click "download", install following on screen instructions even if you think you already have it.

I am new to Fedora, and giving Fedora 14 a try. I had the same problem, trying to install Thunderbird-lightning through the repositories, and it wasn't showing up anywhere.

Installing it through your method worked for me, thanks.
