I have the Droid phone.. When I connect with the USB cable I have to go on the phone and allow connection/mount. On the top left hand side you should see symbol for USB open that up and allow connection/mount. then I run dmesg to see what it has been assign to.

    example:
    /dev/sdh1 15G 858M 14G 6% /mnt/droid

I am running android 2.0 not sure HTC is running

Re: connect HTC Touch pro phone over usb to fedora 12

I'm trying to figure this out also. Just purchased a Moto Backflip from AT&T and am trying to figure out how to set up a rule to mount the phone under Linux. I have managed to find the steps to do it under Ubuntu, but not sure if the same steps work under Fedora.

What I found is located here

    ***EDIT***
Ok, I believe those steps do work. On Fedora though, instead of putting the file under
    Code:
    /etc/udev/rules.d
    I put the file under
    Code:
    /lib/udev/rules.d
Seems to be working for now at least.

sd 20:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 0

tried to create a rule file as you recommended but I still don't see my phone...

    Any clue?

    Thanks a lot

Re: connect HTC Touch pro phone over usb to fedora 12

The HTC touch pro is a windows mobile 6.1 phone.

If I want to use it as a modem to tether to my laptop, I make sure that it has the USB enhanced functionality enabled under settings-->connections-->USB to PC.

it should have mounted your phone as /dev/ttyACM0 when you boot, or when you plug in the phone. no config (pc or phone) is necessary for it to do this.

I have had good luck tethering my HTC to a laptop by setting up a network connection, then running the internet connection sharing applet on the phone, then starting the network connection on my laptop.

as far as syncing the phone like active sync does in windows, I haven't found a really good way to do that yet. There are a few applications out there, but I haven't tried them. I did see one or two in the fedora repos, too, but as I said, I really haven't tried them.
