    Hi,

Just came across this, looks interesting. Someone also mentioned to me that hackers etc, can chat using Notepad on Windows machines, is it possible any way?

Umm... two people editing the same file on a network share?

    Edit:
I guess it is common for "hackers" to leave a plaintext file on machines they've compromised, in a home directory or My Documents, for example. If that constitutes a message...

    Thanks,

But is it possible to use notepad just like a Yahoo messenger in realtime with two people using it at the same time? Typing commands or messages in notepad as if it were a chat application?

    Thanks...

I highly doubt it. Notepad is a plaintext editor, not a messaging app that uses a messaging protocol.

Sounds to me like somebody heard something about what "hackers" do, misinterpreted it, and repeated the misinterpretation.

Well, I suppose if you were bored. Have one person on the machine, have the other vnc into it. Open notepad. Then, one person could type, then the other.

    Hello everybody,

Here's my first post here. I know how to chat using command prompt, juste enter a code in the notepad and save the file as whatever.vbs DON'T FORGET THE .vbs and juste save it on your desktop. The code is :
    @echo off
    :A
    Cls
    echo MESSENGER
    set /p n=User:
    set /p m=Message:
    net send %n% %m%
    Pause
    Goto A

Enter this in notepad, save notepad as whatever.vbs don't forget .vbs

Now, when you save it, open it.
The user is the IP adress of the computer

To know ip adress, go to start>run>cmd>and write ''ip config'', without quotes.

When you know the IP adress of the computer you want to send message, write it in USER,
and now, juste write your message and your done !!!

You need the messenger service to be running for that to work but it's disabled by default under >Windows XP SP 2 because it's an Adware attack vector.
