    F13 Naming: Leonidas -> Constantine -> <New Name>?

    With Fedora 12 just a few days from release it is time to begin the
    naming process for the next Fedora release.

    Contributors can make suggestions for the name for Fedora 13 by visiting

    https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Name_..._for_Fedora_13

    I think 'Fortuna' should win. It's concise, easy for English-speakers to pronounce, and extremely themable (Renaissance). It also sounds elegant. And if F13 turns out well, the association with a masterpiece will be great. The alliteration is unfortunate.

    Browsing through the list, I saw many names like "Methodius", "Celestine", "Hammurabi", and "Maximus". I hope we don't choose the name of another historical figure again. Leonidas → Constantine → Maximus would be terrible.

    I think 'Dryden', 'Lucky', and 'Sequoia' are also good. Any of these names would be better than 'Moonshine', with the possible exception of 'Crystal Lake'. Fedora Crystal Lake? I hope not.

    As an aside, if I proposed 'Jesus', the link being someone influential to Christianity, would Legal be likely to pass it? It might be somewhat controversial, but it'd be hilarious.

    Blasphemer! 'Moonshine' was the best name ever!

    @arttorney ,

    There is no "they". It is the community which votes for the names.

    I still like Monterey, which gets us away from the ancient kings naming and into a wide range for the future. BTW, "Turkey" ...hmmm... "F13...what a Turkey!" Not good.

    How about Fedoraforums. Logic--Constantine was a religious and political figure, and we, (quite wisely in my extremely biased opinion) are Draconian (another ruler) about preventing such disucssions.

    I always suggest Scott, but it's always ignored. (That's a joke folks, I don't present it to the community, just here.)

    I don't think turkey would be a good choice, given slang connotations of turkey

    Where I come from, "Turkey" means "makes us feel fat and sleepy once per year."

    Or is that the beer?

    I sure hope that's a preliminary list. Emphasis on preliminary. As in, "we're going to put out a better list later."
