What do I do if my bug report does not get answered?

    Hi,

I often get the question from users as to what they should do if they filed a bug report and do not get ANY response. Note that we will always continue to have more bug reports than we can resolve but you do deserve a response if you filed a bug report. The large majority of packages are now maintained by volunteers and sometimes they do disappear without informing anybody resulting in stale bug reports. In other times, bugs just fall through the cracks with noone noticing it. There is a detailed policy on fixing such problems.

    Thank you for your time.

I have a question about when to file a bug report with bugzilla. Every time I have a crash? Or just when I have a crash I can reliably reproduce?

    Hi

Reproduciable crashes are easier to debug and fix but any crash report can be helpful, especially if you use abrt to file it.

using abrt for bug report is preferred than filing it yourself?

    Hi

Yep because Abrt has the ability to install the debuginfo packages and collect the full backtrace. If you can do it manually, it would work fine

This might help you understand why your complaints haven't been answered as fast as you want them to be...

If it is reproduceable obviously steps to reproduce.

I generally look for patches that address the issue, and if I can find them, link to them in the bug report so the Fedora maintainer can read it and decide if he/she wants to use that patch.
