NVIDIA nForce built-in Gigabit MAC with external RTL8211CL-GR problem
I have an Asus M3N78-VM motherboard. It’s Ethernet is listed as NVIDIA nForce built-in Gigabit MAC with external RTL8211CL-GR.
I changed the motherboard yesterday from one which had a different Ethernet make. Now what happens is that it seems I do not have the right module loaded to get the Ethernet working.
When I do a service network restart, it complains about the 8139too driver. I have done a modprobe 8139too and insmod 8139too and both return nothing. I assume they have worked as when I do lsmod | grep 8139too, the 8139too driver is listed. However when I run service network restart again, it still complains about not finding the 8139too module.
When I run lspci –vv, for the Ethernet part, it says the loaded driver is forcedeth.
I apologise if this is a bit vague but I am not at that computer. I will post more detailed output later today if needed.
The ethernet port works as when I load from the rescue cd, I am able to access the internet.
