Fedora 10 Wake problem
Hello All,
I am using Fedora Core 10 with kernel version 2.6.27.19-170.2.35.fc10.x86_64 on a HP DV6000 series laptop. I am experiencing problems when I try to wake my laptop from sleep. It goes to sleep perfectly, however, upon wake, the lights come on the machine as normal, indicating that the machine is about to wake up, however, the screen remains off, as opposed to blank. If i try to press the Caps Lock Button, the caps light does not respond, indicating that the machine has frozen. I have tried pressing the wake and power button repeatedly, pressing keys, leaving it for half hour, but it does not wake. I am forced to power off and power on the laptop again. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

yes! that may be the problem.. I need to repair my linux installation this weekend though because it sort of crashed. But as soon as I do that, I will remove compiz and try it and see, and post my results. Thanks though

Hi,
I'm having the same problem on my Acer Ferrari 4002. If I use suspend (either by menu or by closing the lid), I always end up having to power off and restart. When attempting to wake it up from suspend, everything seems to come back, except for the screen which remains off. Not blank, but off, exactly as kajun989 said.
I'm using fedora 10, kernel version 2.6.27.21-170.2.56 (I had the problem with earlier ones too). The graphics card is a ATI radeon X700 but I don't think that is part of the problem.
I too had compiz installed. I removed it and tried again, but nothing changes. I can image though that there is a problem with compiz, because if I try to enable desktop effects, my screen freezes and I can only power off. Don't know whether those problems might be related.
Any suggestions?

I had the some problem on my sony vaio ar71mr laptop. But I have never used compiz at all. The problem was solved after I installed a new video card driver. So I think that the trouble is not related to compiz or kernel, this is a driver problem.
And maybe reading this topic will help you.

I solved this problem editing the file /etc/acpi/events/video.conf and uncommenting the lines:
event=video.*
action=/usr/sbin/vbetool dpms on
