[SOLVED] Dictd: Why the dict server is not up?

    Dear guys,
I have installted dictd (server side program):
    Code:
    yum install dictd
    with no problem
    i have started the service
    Code:
    sudo /etc/init.d/dictd start
    with no problem,
    Starting dictd: [ OK ]
But, when i tried to check the service run in my pc,
    Code:
    nmap localhost
    or
    Code:
     ps aux | grep dict
    no dictd server service running,

so, for sure if i run ,dict (client side program), to query any word(e.q. fedora)
    Code:
    dict fedora
it will return "Cannot connect to any servers"

I have configured the /etc/dictd.conf and /etc/dict.conf file, to make sure it pointed to the correct server and database.

    Any idea on it,?
    Google cant help me much.
    Thanks

In F10 I didn't have to configure anything, but just download some dictionaries from here and installed with

    Code:
    rpm -ihv --noscripts <path to>/dictd-dictionaries-1.0-2.noarch.rpm
    then started dictd service with

    Code:
    service dictd start
All seemed fine, service listening on default port 2628

    Code:
    ]$ nmap localhost

    Starting Nmap 4.68 ( http://nmap.org ) at 2009-03-11 11:33 GMT
    Interesting ports on localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1):
    Not shown: 1711 closed ports

Re: Dictd: Why the dict server is not up?

dictd server not starting on fedora 15. Can anyone show me how to do that. I want offline dictionaries with local dictd server.

nmap localhost; not showing dict here.
