I'm attempting to modify fstab to mount my ext3 partitions with the options "defaults, noatime, data=writeback". Currently in fstab I just have "defaults". After making the change I reboot, but the drives get mounted as read-only when the system comes back up. This generates a slew of errors in the boot process about not being able to touch files, etc., and eventually sysklogd hangs.
What's strange is that once I've booted with the default settings (after changing them back) I can successfully unmount and mount ext3 filesystems with the data=writeback option and not have them magically become read-only.
What am I missing?
(Apologies in advance if this question is especially moronic.)
