    Question Am I doing right (pulseaudio system wide equalizer)

    Hi guys,

    I finally managed to enable system wide equalizer on fedora 10, but I am not sure if this is the right way or there is a more elegant way of doing this. For some reason the same thread on ubuntu forums did not worked for me, so I was forced to experiment a little.

    In order to enable equalizer I installed:

    - ladspa
    - ladspa-swh-plugins
    - padevchooser
    Now, as root I edited /etc/pulse/default.pa and added the following two lines:

    Code:
    load-module module-ladspa-sink sink_name=ladspa_out master=alsa_output.pci_8086_27d8_sound_card_0_alsa_playback_0 plugin=mbeq_1197 label=mbeq control=0,-3,-5,-7,-10,-10,-12,-15,-15,-13,-8,-5,-3,3,0

    set-default-sink ladspa_out
    Now, with PA device chooser icon I selected Default sink -> Other, "ladspa_out" and clicked OK.

    The equalizer works, but sometimes song skips for half a seconds at the very beginning. Is there a better way of doing this?

    Cheers

    I've edited the subject line so that you're more likely to get helpful answers (and more likely to get the thread seen by busy people.)

    No problem. I think that only mods can edit the actual thread title. Anyway, hopefully, the new title will attract someone who has an answer.

    Fedora 11 makes mu nuts

    Unfortunately, pulseaudio in Fedora 11 has changed and the given method will not work any more.

    If I try to load module-ladspa -sink, I get this error:

    > pulseaudio[27541]: sink-input.c: Assertion 'PA_SINK_INPUT_IS_LINKED(i->thread_info.state)' failed at
    > pulsecore/sink-input.c:807, function pa_sink_input_update_max_request().
    > Aborting.

    It's a known bug upstream and there is even a fix for it, but I don't know why Fedora guys chose not to include the fix.

    Scratch that. I looked a little closer and this the right bug report:

    Unfortunately, there is no fix for this one....

    PulseAudio System Wide Equalizer

    Hi,

    Here is a great PulseAudio Equalizer GUI : http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1308838

    I have managed to repackage it on Fedora 12 successfully, here is the source rpm, and this is the binary rpm.

    I have submitted an early review request ( that won't be accepted ) while waiting for a clear project schedule from the author. I mailed him and he told me that he is gonna move the project to launchpad soon.

    Will the binary rpm work with F11?

    No, it won't. It is meant for F12 and plus, it requires pulseaudio >= 0.9.19, while latest pulseaudio in F11 is 0.9.16.

    works ok for me, only issue was static and pops whenever i change the volume while the e.q. is activated. i went into pulse sound preferences and changed output from ladspa to internal audio and the equalizer is still affecting my sound even though the eq window says its off, but if i adjust a band and hit "apply" it realized its off and i have to re-activate it in the eq window and shut it off in preferences again. to get the crackles to stop on volume change i had the shut off sytem sounds.
