    cant install new kernel

    Hi!

    I made new kernel by myself with these instructions:
    http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Building_a_custom_kernel

    everything went ok, but i cant install it, command:
    Code:
    rpm -ivh ~/rpmbuild/RPMS/i686/kernel-devel-2.6.27.5-117.mojkernel.fc10.i686.rpm
    gives me that error:
    Code:
    error: Failed dependencies:
    	kernel-firmware >= 2.6.27.5-117.mojkernel.fc10 is needed by kernel-2.6.27.5-117.mojkernel.fc10.i686
    btw:
    Code:
    yum install kernel-firmware
    Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit
    Setting up Install Process
    Parsing package install arguments
    Package kernel-firmware-2.6.27.5-117.fc10.noarch already installed and latest version
    Nothing to do
    what i should do?

    I'm having the exact same problem. I compiled a kernel successfully then went back and changed some things around and now I'm where you are.

    Alright I found a link to a page that gave me some clues.
    http://osdir.com/mllinux.redhat.fedo.../msg00089.html
    The only real clue that it gave me pretained to my SPEC file. So I'm going to modify the lines that say
    # kernel-firmware
    %define with_firmware %{?_with_firmware: 1} %{?!_with_firmware: 0}
    -----------to look like this-------------------
    %define with_firmware %{?_with_firmware: 0} %{?!_with_firmware: 1}
    and
    %define with_firmware %{?_without_firmware: 0} %{?!_without_firmware: 1}
    -----------to look like this-------------------
    %define with_firmware %{?_without_firmware: 1} %{?!_without_firmware: 0}
    and see if that works.

    Hello:
    Modifying the kernel.spec file as you outlined above

    PHP Code:
    # kernel-firmware
    %define with_firmware  %{?_with_firmware:  0} %{?!_with_firmware:  1
    should cause the matching kernel-firmware rpm to be built at the same time. Then you can install both at the same time.
