eject refusing to eject usb flash after some recent system update

After some of the recent updates eject started to complain on the usb flash devices if I try to eject them:

    [root@abbot ~]# eject /dev/sdb
eject: device "/dev/sdb" doesn't have a removable flag
    [root@abbot ~]# cat /sys/block/sdb/removable
    1

Everything worked fine just two weeks ago.
    What can be wrong?

Basicly it was the following update (eject - 2.1.5-6) that is causing the issue. See this thread for the fix.

Thanks. Just to summarize, this is the quick fix:

    rpm -e --nodeps eject
    yum install eject-2.1.5-5

Ok, but why the need to revert back when you could go forward and just download and instal this version slated for F8 (eject-2.1.5-7.fc8):

    http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/b...?buildID=43062

Either way we both arrived at the same place... Fixedville

    bkj1:

Your koji link is bad, seems to have "...." in it instead of some of the URL

    I think it's: eject fix

Because it is not in the updates yet. This particularly means that the RPM still may change without changing the version/release number and you will not get the latest RPM when it goes to the update.

Good point. If your in an enterprise enviornment your method is probably the best method. For me all my machines are for home use. Although one could always runt this command:

    yum update eject-2.1.5-7

As a final note from updates@fedoraproject.org:

eject-2.1.5-7.fc8 has been pushed to the Fedora 8 stable repository.
