Splatter ( Gnome desktop wallpaper auto changer )

Splatter will change your Gnome desktop wallpaper every so often to a random one in the list of available wallpapers you have added to Gnome

    http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...roup_id=214500

    release notes

    http://sourceforge.net/project/shown...roup_id=214500

The notes didn't work for me as it wouldn't create the required directories

Change * to suit your username

    Code:
    mkdir /home/*/.splatter
    cd /home/*/.splatter
    wget http://dfn.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/splatter/splatter
    mkdir /home/*/.config/autostart
    chmod +x /home/*/.splatter/splatter
    /home/*/.splatter/splatter

Run it and see if you get a error

    Code:
    [leigh@localhost ~]$ /home/leigh/Desktop/splatter
    Creating autostart file: [/home/leigh/.config/autostart/splatter.desktop]
I am afraid I cannot read the wallpaper file: [/home/leigh/.gnome2/backgrounds.xml]. Exiting.
If you do just change your gnome background to create .gnome2/backgrounds.xml

    Then to run it again

    Code:
    /home/*/.splatter/splatter -d &

To add it to sessions startup I had to make a small script

    Code:
    gedit /home/*/.splatter/splatter-startup
Then add ( change leigh to your username )

    PHP Code:
    #! /bin/bash
    /home/leigh/.splatter/splatter -

    Then make it executable

    Code:
    chmod +x /home/*/.splatter/splatter-startup

Then add the path to the startup script to sessions startup

    Code:
    /home/*/.splatter/splatter-startup

Does anyone know if this still works? I'm looking for a program that will change backgrounds after a while.

I think that there is a Gnome extension that does that. Sorry, but I cannot remember the name this minute.
I use F26 and Gnome Xfce, with all updates applied, on a X86_64 kernel with 4gb of DRAM and Evga Geforce 7600 GS PCI-E 256mb DDR2 video card.
