    Screenlets RPM for Fedora 8

I have built an i686 rpm for the screenlets package on fedora 8 here - http://www.jdeslippe.com/rpms/ (sorry if someone else has already done this, but I couldn't find it).

If you don't know what screenlets are, they are a set of widgets that work with a composited desktop manager (like compiz). With compiz, the widget/screenlet layer disappears or reappears when your press f9. The rpm contains a basic set up screenlets that you set up by going to the Main Menu -> System -> Preferences -> Screenlets. You can download more screenlets to add here: http://www.screenlets.org/index.php/...UserScreenlets

Hmm, that is strange. I just tried it from another computer and it seemed to work fine - can you see my homepage ok? http://www.jdeslippe.com (also make sure you typed in the final "p" and "e".

Now that I've donwloaded it, there is another problem...

rpm complains that python-imagin is missing. Probably because it has been mistyped in the spec file.

    cheers,

drhilbert: oops - sorry about that - I realized python-imaging should be a dependency for one of the screenlets (although it compiles find without it) and added it this morning to the specfile - but misstyped. I have fixed the rpm now.

RahulSundaram: Ya, I would probably be interested in that. I will look into this in the next day or so to see what is involved in getting screenlets into Fedora.

    Spec File

Any chance that you would release the spec file so that we can compile on x86_64?

sorry for the late reply, I was away for about ten days. I posted the specfile and patches here: http://jdeslippe.com/rpms/i686/ . Don't kill me if it is not in Fedora standard form, it was one of my first builds.

    Cheers,

    Jack

I did a "noarch" rpm here wich insert icon on menu (as fusion-icon).
I requested Fedora to include mine. If you want to have rpm:
    http://www.metal3d.org/index.php/blo...-pour-Fedora-8

    or:

    http://www.metal3d.org/rpms/screenle...fc8.noarch.rpm

    Thanks

That would be great if you get it included. I have been too busy with other things to submit mine. Let us know when it makes it in.

I did a patch because screenlets have a bug for autostart on several configurations. This is the new package:
    http://www.metal3d.org/rpms/screenle...fc8.noarch.rpm

    Regards

Ps: I'm waiting for RH to include my rpm...

Excellent. Thanks for your work. I hope it gets into the fedora repos soon; let us know when they include it.
