    Internet Slow

I know this is on my end, something to do with my computer, but being new to Fedora (linux in general) i'm not sure what steps to troubleshoot the issue. I recently reformatted from a dual boot to Fedora 6 only. And for whatever reason, my internet connection is slower than molassas going up hill, while it's frozen. I'm on a fiber connection so I should be able to get up to 15mb up and down, but I'm getting around 2 or 3 kbps on torrent downloads (all legal) and my browser drags like it's on dial up. I did use Firefox 2 before the reformat and now I'm on 1.5 again, could that be an issue? Is there something I'm overlooking and once it's pointed out I'll feel like a dunce? I've got my firewall and SELinux disabled, and I've opened the ports on the router but nothing is helping.

Never underestimate someone with source code, a text editor, and the willingness to completely hose their system.

I'm guessing no one has any suggestions or ideas?

There is a similar post where it was recommended to disable IP6Tables and something about DNS but I can't find it right now. Still looking though.

    In firefox, type
    about:config
in navigation tool bar...search for this setting:
    network.dns.disableIPv6
...make sure it is set to "true"

You can also add the following to your /etc/modprobe.conf
    alias net-pf-10 off
    alias ipv6 off

I'm sharing a dial-up connection between 3 computers. Can someone make my internet faster despite the fact my neighbor, who is across the street, gets DSL access and I don't?

Sure, provide your neighbor with the cheapest wireless router you can find, then offer to split the cost of their connection if they'll share it with you. If they won't share and they already have a wireless router, what they don't know won't hurt them a bit.

Thanks for the IPv6 tip. But I finally took a look at the physical router and found that it was made prior to 2000. So it's not 100baseT so it's clogged and can't handle the load. So I just need a new router, and I tested that idea by bypassing the router and it was marvelously fast. Thanks again.
