    Ahhh!!!

So I am down in Florida at my cousins for vacation. go to sleep my laptop is working. Wake up its off, do Some troubleshooting and nothing. finially take the damn thing apart and see that half the mobo is fried. no clue how it happened. So i am at the apple store in tampa right now. And probably no computer for the rest of the week! i may go crazy. By the way does anyone know if there is an easy way to get info off a laptop harddrive. is there some type of connector to convert to ide or usb or something i can hook into my desktop when i get home. most of my stuff is baked up, but i got three days a code on there for my fedora jumpstart application im working on that i would really like to get back. and the hardrive looks fine. just the motherboard is all coroded and burnt. not clue. it sucks as i cant afford a new laptop right now. so talk to you guys in a week. And hopefully someone knows of a way to hook the laptop harddrive to the desktop. it is a toshiba A75 s229 if that matters, dont really know if there is more thatn one type of connection for laptop harddrives.

    Sir,

    Respectfully submitted:

This adaptor purports to allow you to add the drive to your desktop system with no fuss.

Hope this helps you, and sorry about the bogus stuff going on with your laptop.

    thanks,

Bad luck Nick. You can get external cases though (both ide and sata) that you plug your harddrive into, and connect that to your usb. They are pretty cheap and quite handy to have around.

Nick, wow that really is a bummer. Let's see... Toshiba; looks like you're entitled to at least a partial payment here: http://www.a70m30xsettlement.com/ $25 to $50 isn't much, but why not apply for it?

I'd also check with the shop to see if that battery was the problem - everyone else's batteries are burning up their lappys, why not Toshiba?

BTW, I gave up trying to pull anything off the drive SELinux hosed out for me. I'm re-coding the site from scratch. That's a good thing though. It needed cleaned up.

Oh! One more thing you might want to keep handy!

Just hit CompUSA and ask them for an internal 40 to 44 pin adapter, tell them you need to hook up a laptop drive to your PC, believe it or not they typically have them in stock for $9.99.
