root / or MBR install GRUB repair windows XP boot FC6

Thanks FC6 developers for hiding the option during install for GRUB to install in MBR (killing my windows boot).

I need recover my window XP boot. I need to edit boot.ini (I made three attempts to restore it in order to boot XP). I already fix the ntldr missing... by copy the ntdetect and some other file to my C: XP drive. I install ntfs-3g to read my C drive from FC6, I get this when I load (how do I fix this in order to read my XP ntfs drive

    ""ntfs-3g /dev/hdb1 /mnt/windows/C
Failed to mount '/dev/hdb1': Operation not supported
Mount is denied because the NTFS journal file is unclean. Choices are:
    A) Shutdown Windows properly.
    B) Click the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon in the Windows taskbar
notification area before disconnecting the device.
    C) Use 'Eject' from Windows Explorer to safely remove the device.
    D) If you ran chkdsk previously then boot Windows again which will
    automatically initialize the journal.
    E) Run 'ntfsfix' on Linux which will reset the NTFS journal.
    F) Mount the volume read-only by using the 'ro' mount option.

To fix the bootloader in Win XP
    1. boot with the install disk.
    2. Choose the repair option.
    3. select the default windows (if you have only 1 OS )
4 type in "fixboot" (without the " ") and hit enter
    5. type in "fixmbr" (and hit enter)
    6.type in exit
7.remove the cd and re-boot into windows.
    OR
1.boot with the FC install cd
    2. type in "linux rescue" (without the " ") and hit enter
2a. do not choose to check disk
    3.ok all default options
4.when the rescue system is set up , at the command line type in "grub --install /dev/hda" (without the " ") then hit enter.
edit to add: 4a. type in "quit" (without the " ")
    5. type in exit
    6.type in exit
    7. re-boot into linux or, at the splashscreen, use the down arrow to show the options. highlight the 2nd option using the arrow key to navigate, and hit the enter key to boot into windows.

If i was you I would learn howto recover windows first , looks that you are half way there to losing your windows install completely .

Dont blame FC because you didn't read the install notes.

    I installed ntfs-3g using this
    yum install fuse fuse-libs ntfs-3g ntfsprogs ntfsprogs-gnomevfs

I put this in my /etc/fstab file (and many versions that continue to fail)

    /dev/hdb1 /mnt/windows/C -t ntfs-3g -rw,defaults,umask=0000 0 0
    /dev/hda1 /mnt/windows/F -t vfat -rw,defaults,umask=0000 0 0
    /dev/hda2 /mnt/windows/I -t vfat -rw,defaults,umask=0000 0 0

My source for the above "http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-fedora-fc6.html#ntfs" does not give an example, it a read only example then says for rw replace "this" with "This" (confusing) to enable rw...

I can mount from a command line using this
    mount /dev/hdb1 /mnt/windows/C -t ntfs-3g -rw -o umask=0000
but this does not let me delete or move ntfs file
