I'm running a Gateway EV700 monitor, as you can guess. I use Fedora Core 5 kernel 2.6.17-1.2187. In Windows I use 60 Hz as my refresh rate, I like the clarity and it's less strain on my eyes. However, ever since I first got this PC and installed the nvidia drivers, the only refresh rate available to me is 85 Hz. I am guessing this is because of the nvidia driver because I've been using this PC through several kernel updates. I'm using a 256 MB NVidia GeForce FX 5500. I was told that I could edit xorg.conf and change the Horizsync and Vertrefresh values for my monitor, but I have been unable to find any documentation for it, even on Gateway.com. I don't have the manual because it was a hand-me-down. Could somebody "please" tell me how to turn my refresh rate down to 60 Hz. I've posted this on forum after forum. If it involved file editing please be specific because I'm not completely familiar with the syntax used. Here are the unedited contents of my xorg.conf(other than deleting a commented line that was spammed like 40 times for some reason):
