    Question configuring apache

    i've apache installed on my fc5
    but whenever i give command as service httpd start
    then i get an error saying
    Starting httpd: httpd: Syntax error on line 182 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: Cannot load /etc/httpd/modules/mod_access.so into server: /etc/httpd/modules/mod_access.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    [FAILED]
    pls help me to resolve the problem

    There's the start of your trouble - you've got a syntactical error on line 182 of httpd.conf. Why don't you post that line here if you can't see the error?

    This might or might not be related to the first error, but it's worth a look anyway - what do you get from

    ls -l /etc/httpd/modules
    locate mod_access.so

    got the answer
    mv /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf.bak /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
    if asked to overwrite say yes.

    I had the same trouble with my new install. I un-installed httpd (Apache) and re-installed and it works now. Apparently the modules didn't get installed properly the first time.

    There's probably a more technicially proper way to say this, but even after using Linux for years, I'm still a Newbe.
