    Question suddenly can't rip DVD

I did this successfully last week w/ the movie House Of Wax using dvd::rip...it worked flawlessly.

Tonight, I popped in another movie and I get this error when trying to read the disk tracks in a new project:

    Code:
Error compiling lsdvd output: syntax error at (eval 84) line 311, at EOF
That's a load...I can "lsdvd" and list the tracks just fine in the terminal...but dvd::rip isn't reading them...therefore I can't move through the project and rip it.

I've got green OKs across the board on the checks in the Preferences panel. I even tried changing the permissions on the /dev/dvd symbolic link and the mounted /dev/cdrom-hda dvd-rom drive.

I'm pretty new to this and don't know squat about ripping/burning DVDs...so I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Could the latest kernel update have had something to do w/ this? I could rip them until I went from 2080 to 2096.

    Hi all,
After todays update it works without any problem.
    Become root with
    Code:
    su -
    and do a
    Code:
    yum update
or if you dont want a complete update
    Code:
    yum update lsdvd
lsdvd gets updated to version 0.16-2

Could you see which repo 0.16-2 came from. I can not find it (still using 15, it works).

    Thanks

Thanks. They have it for FC5 but not FC4. I just figured they would have both.

The latest version of lsdvd for FC4 is 0.15-1.2 it is here .

    (still using 15, it works)
Why update to 0.16-2 when the 0.15-1.2 works?

    Greetings elgreco

Livna has 0.16-0 for FC4 but DVD::Rip does not like it. I am up and running with .15-?. I was just hoping for a 0.16-2. It will show up in a few days.

    Thanks

    Good thing for this post,
although perhaps i can give further explaination:

Steps: 1. Remove lsdvd (it will probably uninstall dvd::rip along with it that's fine)
Step 2. Manually install the 0.15 lsdvd rpm (just google lsdvd 0.15 i forget the link but i'll try and find it)
    Step 3. install pearl-Video-DVDRip

Then the error listed above should now be fixed.

Strange though, how 0.16 works on my desktop and not on my lapto. Honestly i don't really care so long as everything is working. Hopefully they'll update yet again.

    http://dag.wieers.com/packages/lsdvd...5-2.rf.src.rpm
    yum install libdvdread-devel
    rpm -i lsdvd-0.15-2.rf.src.rpm
    cd /usr/src/redhat/SPECS
    rpmbuild -bb lsdvd.spec
    yum install perl-Video-DVDRip
