Re: Gnome Shell Themes fail

that moves the corner from left to right, for 3.0 you added a right corner too, is that possible with 3.2?

Re: Best Rsync GUI

be careful to preserve permissions and ownership with rsync, and always do it as root, also the trailing slash makes a difference on directories. i use:

rsync -avzp --delete --progress...

Re: Why chmod 777 some important files result in system broken?

that's exactly the problem i see in my day job - far too many people who really don't know what they are doing (even programmers!) turn to chmod 777 for some odd reason, thinking it will fix things,...

Re: Mplayer broken FLV

i'm using 64-bit and it is broken for me, someone on the bug report said they noticed its not ALL flv files, so maybe you're just missing the issue.

Re: Why chmod 777 some important files result in system broken?

its entirely plausible - selinux, pam and ssh for starters are very sensitive to over-generous permissions.

i would consider a multi-user system broken if there were any 777 files, even if it...

Re: F15 and Gnome2 - Fork?

but are so many mixed repo's reliable or do we end up with the fiasco we used to have when mixing atrpms with any other repo?

at the moment i just use rpmfusion - well and the...

Re: Gnome 3 & Skype

haven't noticed display problems but i'm on nvidia. my main gripe with skype on gnome3 is that gnome3 doesn't have a panel as such so you keep having to look at the bottom right corner for skype.

Re: F15 and Gnome2 - Fork?

yes i've got to look into debian in detail as there are 3 branches it seems, stable is probably going to be too old for my liking, and one of the branches (testing or unstable?) sounds like its more...

Re: F15 and Gnome2 - Fork?

which is why i'm strongly considering switching to debian 6 after 10+ years as a redhat guy, i think debian will be winning a lot of ubuntu refugees too.

how's it going using SL6 as a desktop?...

Re: Why chmod 777 some important files result in system broken?

there is absolutely no reason to ever have a 777 file or directory on a system, its just laziness and thoughtlessness and downright lack of skill and knowledge.

Re: F15,F14, F13 & F12 Nvidia driver guides

yes i've just tried to play urban terror and even going down to 1024x768 is jerky.

that said, i can live without games if my system stops crashing.

Re: F15,F14, F13 & F12 Nvidia driver guides

yes i guess so, the command still left these in place, but they're not rpmfusion they're fedora, so i left them in:

nvidia-settings-1.0-10.fc15.x86_64
nvidia-xconfig-1.0-8.fc15.x86_64

i also...

Re: F15,F14, F13 & F12 Nvidia driver guides

lol, actually its nothing like that - there is no xorg-configure and you don't need to backup xorg.xonf or install nouveau!

yum remove xorg-x11-drv-nvidia* akmod-nvidia*

then just remove the...

Re: Gnome shell freezes

a few of us are having worse crashes than that - serious hard freezes requiring a power/reset button press, and yes i've noticed it seems to happen a lot with the activies corner.
